Doctors Reveal Their Favorite EHR Systems

In basic terms, an EMR/EHR is a computer system that helps healthcare providers manage patient records and automate some clinical processes. EMR (electronic medical records) and EHR (electronic health records) might mean the same and are often used interchangeably, there are a few key differences.
Electronic medical records are just that – a digital version of paper medical records. EHR systems on the other hand represent an advancement in clinical systems that bring additional features to enhance the patient experience. These include other features such as e-prescriptions, patient portals, telehealth modules and so on. The US healthcare market is ripe for EHR systems, so there’s a lot of them.

With technology advancing fast and bringing major innovations and conveniences in every part of our lives, it’s natural that a lot of it can be applied in the healthcare industry as well. Patient records have been at the core of any medical practice, and their maintenance is of utmost importance.

Modern EMR systems have to some extent replaced paper records, but they go on to provide additional features that automate most clinical workflows. Adoption is slowly but surely taking place, as EMRs grow in features and become easier for small practices to implement.

Logic Inbound, a Seattle based healthcare marketing agency, has published an article which features some of the best EMR/EHR systems on the market. They asked real doctors about the EHRs they use, and came up with a list that covers EHRs for medical practices, health and wellness providers and even large healthcare organizations such as hospitals.

Logic Inbound spoke to a telehealth practice, and their choice for EHR is ChARM. ChARM has a built-in telehealth module which makes it easy to hold video calls with patients from within the EHR. This makes it a convenient EHR that has all the features a small to medium size practice could ask for. It’s also HIPAA compliant so there shouldn’t be any trouble with compliance.

Chirotouch seems to be the EHR of choice for chiropractors. This EHR is designed specifically for chiropractors and has features for dealing with patients who come for chiropractic appointments. The tool is easy enough for novice computer users, so most chiropractors should be able to use it without the need for expert help.

Jane App is also an EHR that is being used by chiropractors, and one of its main selling points is the affordable price. Its easy to understand interface also plays a role in its popularity, as healthcare providers generally don’t have much time to spend on learning an EHR.

Simplepractice is also mentioned as a tool for healthcare and wellness providers, but not medical doctors. It does not have an eprescriptions feature hence it cannot practically be used by MDs who need to issue prescriptions online.
