Ready, Set, Reschedule: IOA Corporate 5k Postponed to October

IOA and Track Shack Team Up to Reschedule “Orlando’s Largest Office Party”

LONGWOOD, Fla. – June 25, 2020 – Partnering with health authorities and local government officials to follow the latest COVID-19 safety recommendations, Track Shack and Insurance Office of America (IOA) have officially postponed the 26th annual IOA Corporate 5k. Originally set for April 9, the IOA-sponsored event will now take place on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Recognizing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) recommendations to socially distance and limit social gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19, IOA co-founder John Ritenour and his son — IOA chairman and CEO — Heath Ritenour agreed that the best way to preserve the annual race was to postpone it.

“Small businesses, large companies, non-profits, and even CEOs themselves participate in the IOA Corporate 5k,” explained John Ritenour. “Instead of putting runners at risk or canceling the event altogether, we worked with Track Shack to come up with a plan that would continue the event while meeting health and safety guidelines.”

Donned, “the big run with a big heart,” the IOA Corporate 5k unites thousands of participants to walk, jog, or run the course surrounding Orlando’s Lake Eola in support of the Second Harvest Food Bank, Track Shack Foundation, and Christian Service Center. Although the race has been postponed, John Ritenour and the team at IOA are still dedicated to fulfilling the insurance agency’s main mission as title sponsor: collecting donations through the IOA Corporate 5k 100 Meal Challenge.

“This event isn’t just about fitness and fun. It’s about feeding the community,” continued Ritenour. “If rescheduling the race is what’s going to make this event as safe as possible for participants, it’s also what’s going to help us donate as many meals as possible to individuals and families in need.”

Registrations for the 2020 IOA Corporate 5k, in which companies can enroll as a group and invite team members to help reach the event’s fundraising goal of $35,000, are set to remain open through September.
