Symetra Tour Adds Another IOA-Sponsored Tournament to the 2020 Season

“The Road to the LPGA” Introduces New October Event

The Road to the LPGA just got a little bit longer. On Wednesday, Sep. 9, the Symetra Tour announced its addition of the Mission Inn Resort & Club Championship presented by Insurance Office of America (IOA). The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 15-17 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.

Mission Inn is home to two championship courses, but players in the new IOA-sponsored Symetra Tour tournament will battle on the prestigious El Campeón. Built in 1917, the course has over 100 years of local history. In addition, Golf Channel’s GolfAdvisor has ranked it as the #1 course in Florida since 2012.

The Symetra Tour originally featured three IOA-sponsored events for the 2020 season — the IOA Invitational, IOA Championship, and IOA Classic. After having to postpone the IOA Invitational due to the ongoing pandemic, the team at IOA jumped at the opportunity to sponsor another stop on the tour.

“Working with Mission Inn and the Symetra Tour during these unique times to provide a new event has not only been exciting for the Club and Tour, but also for the IOA family,” said IOA Chairman and CEO Heath Ritenour.

Over the course of this three-day championship, players will compete in a 54-hole stroke play format for a $125,000 purse — with the winner taking home a sum of $18,750.

“It’s always exciting when IOA can provide more opportunities for the athletes on the Symetra Tour,” said IOA Co-Founder John Ritenour. “But given the circumstances of this year, we couldn’t be more thrilled about presenting the Mission Inn Resort & Club Championship.”
