At a special event that took place on the 15th of September at the headquarters of Freedom Concepts, Nolan was presented with his very own Dream Bike.
Freedom Concepts’ dream bike was created for those kids who won’t let anything get in their way – for children living with special needs who want the ability to ride a bike through their neighbourhood, play with their friends, and enjoy the freedom that comes with being a kid.
Nolan is a remarkable boy who lives with his parents Heather and Al Lawless. He is just going into Grade 1, but has global delays and is completely non-verbal. He is a determined youngster, however, and can hop around independently on his knees. In essence, he bunny hop crawls, but he does require assistance to stand and take steps. Nolan is very funny, and like most young boys, is very playful and a little mischievous. He is very social and does not let his challenges get in the way of enjoying his life.
“Nolan is a huge fan of Daniel Tiger, and loves to watch most sports, although his favourite team is the Winnipeg Jets,” said Heather Lawless, Daniel’s mother. “He giggles and squeals when he watches any sporting action and also loves playing with balls, bouncing on trampolines, climbing, and play-wrestling.”
“As a company, we were touched by Nolan’s story and wanted to find a way to help him enjoy his childhood even more,” said Jeromy Peel. “When we found out about the Dream Bike, we knew it was perfect for Nolan, and we were more than happy to purchase it for him. We hope it gives him many years of pleasure, and he continues to spread joy with his infectious smile and determination.”
