Sec4G Launches Portable Router and Firewall Product to Secure Data Anywhere

October 24, 2020 – With an increase in the use of public Internet networks for work and entertainment, privacy has become a casualty as hackers can easily operate in public networks to cause losses to users. While many IT solutions are touted to protect user credentials when using public networks, their efficacy is often questionable. Cyber security startup, Sec4G, has now launched a portable device that works as a router, a firewall, a data server and an efficient privacy protector with inbuilt hacker-thwarting abilities.

The firm, which promises to protect user data anywhere, was formed by a few friends who were aware of the limitations of public networks. The first portable router and firewall device of the company aims to make the Internet a safer place to work and play. The small-factor device from Sec4G provides a dedicated firewall built on open source services. The router allows users to go anonymous on the Internet and the portable device can be used anywhere, as it easily slips into one’s pockets or handbags. Users can route their Internet through the device to enjoy a hassle-free experience.

The Sec4G router is a mini-computer with significant hardware capabilities. Running on a 1.3 GHz quad-core chip and 2GB of built-in RAM, the device has surplus analytical power to intelligently protect users from the peering eyes of hackers. The device has up to 128 GB of storage space. Powered by a Type C port, the device comes with slots for a micro SIM and a micro SD card. A 10,000mAH battery keeps the device ticking for about 12 hours. A TFT screen provides visual performance cues to the user.

Once powered, the machine can support up to 20 devices connected to it at the same time. The built-in VPN gives customers the chance to connect securely to their home network. The Sec4G router has the capacity to block malware because the firm supports the device with a backend database that keeps updating its malware signatures every day. The device can also be used to track usage statistics so that administrators can know how their router is being used. It also offers parental control to ensure the safety of children while using the Internet.
