From the back cover:

Inspired by true events, How Now Equality Cow? tells the tale of a boisterous and outspoken cow named Bessy who doesn’t quite fit the mold; in fact, Bessy isn’t like any cow you have ever met before! She was born into a world full of predetermined groups and inequality, but she plans on changing all that. Hold on tight for the story of a cow who breaks free from the farm and gives the world a piece of her mind! Bessy spreads the message of equality as she runs around town preaching diversity and acceptance wo all who will listen.

Note from the author:

This book is intended to be read to children by parents, educators, caregivers, and other fluent readers in order to teach the concepts of diversity, love, tolerance, understanding, acceptance, and of course, equality. Written and designed by two certified teachers from the state of Connecticut, How Now Equality Cow? is an excellent way to introduce a difficult topic to young children in a gentle and loving way. It is ideal for lessons in elementary education, early middle school, special education, or to start a conversation with your own children about diversity.

About the author:

Ryan Gaudreau is a teacher and children’s author from Northeastern Connecticut. He was inspired to write this book after a cow broke free from a nearby farm and ran all around town evading capture for hours. When the local radio station posted the story on Facebook, his co-worker commented that this should be what Ryan’s next book is about, and that was all it took. Written in the same style as his first publication, Oh Mylanta! They Said, “There’s No Santa,” it is Ryan’s hope that How Now Equality Cow? will help teach the values of diversity and equality to the next generation and those to come.

About the illustrator:

As a child, Eileen Mailhot had a love of all arts, especially playing the saxophone and drawing. During her years at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson, CT, she received two associates degrees and found her passion for teaching. Eileen took her passion for all arts and teaching and earned her bachelors degree in art education from Central Connecticut State University. After graduating, it would seem as if fate were on her side. The middle school she attended as a child had an opening for an art teacher. It was here, a place that felt like home, where she could put her love of arts, teaching, and connecting with children all together and truly flourish. She went on to receive her masters degree in technology education from St. Joseph’s College in Hartford, CT. Her job as an art teacher for adolescents drove her to pursue her passion and dream of illustrating children’s books. Eileen enjoys using her talents as an artist to bring joy to others.
