The 8th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair Commences

Online and Offline Assembly of Global Design Talent – “New” Way to Hosting a Multidisciplinary Exhibition

Hosted by the People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality and organized by Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, the 8th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair (SZIDF) commences at Hall 2 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on November 2nd. With the theme of “SURVIVAL BY DESIGN: from Darwinism to…”, the Fair focuses on the general patterns of design development in the world, implements the combination of “Online+Offline” dual presentation, and invites domestic and foreign enterprises, institutions and guests from various fields.

The opening ceremony of SZIDF welcomed more than 200 attendees, including Chen Rugui, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Luo Min, Director of Industrial Culture Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Nie Xinping, Vice Mayor of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Gao Shengyuan, Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Huang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Futian District Committee, Mayor of Futian District People’s Government and Secretary of Party Committee of Futian District People’s Government, Zeng Haiyan, Class-I Consultant of the Producer Service, Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, Zheng Xuan, Class-I Consultant of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and relevant government officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, from Shenzhen Municipality, and from other provinces and municipalities, as well as industry professionals, business leaders and representatives of design companies from home and abroad.

The opening ceremony received 580 thousand views online. At the opening ceremony, the Industrial Culture Development Center of MIIT officially issued the Report on Design Industry Development of China (2020).

Targeting professionals and citizens respectively, the 3-day Fair hosts more than 30 events, spotlighting the forward-looking directions and future development trends for industrial design, including smart manufacturing, sustainability, and consumer services. With products presented, innovation showcased, talent assembled, ideas exchanged, and trends forecasted, the Fair manifests in a “new” exhibition mode where innovation and development, communication and cooperation, and state-of-the-art experience are all incorporated into one.
