Smiles For Veterans Receives Grant Award From Disabled Veterans National Foundation

Smiles for Veterans, a program of Ayuda Smiles, Inc. is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $18,000 which will fund critical care for US Veterans who are unable to get it any other way.

Jan Christensen, Executive Director and program founder of the “Smiles for Veterans” program said, “When it came our attention that so many Veterans were without critical dental care we felt it was imperative that we narrow our focus and speak to the needs of those specific Veterans.”

Joseph VanFonda (USMC) SgtMaj Ret., CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation said, “We are proud to support Smiles for Veterans and their wonderful program as they continue to make a positive impact in our veterans lives. We would like to congratulate and thank them for their commitment to assisting the men and women who served in the defense of our country.”

About the Disabled Veterans National Foundation:

Disabled Veterans National Foundation exists to provide critically needed support to disabled and at-risk veterans who leave the military wounded-physically or psychologically-after defending our safety and our freedom.

DVNF achieves this mission by:

• Offering direct financial support to veteran organizations that address the unique needs of veterans, and whose missions align with that of DVNF.

• Providing supplemental assistance to homeless and low-income veterans through the Health & Comfort program and various empowerment resources.

• Providing an online resource database that allows veterans to navigate the complex process of seeking benefits that they are entitled to as a result of their Military service, as well as additional resources they need.

• Serving as a thought leader on critical policy issues within the veteran community and educating the public accordingly.

About:

The Smiles for Veterans program was established in 2016 after identifying Veterans as an under-served population in terms of dental care. The Veterans Administration provides limited dental services. Most low to no-cost care is aimed at single issue treatment such as cleaning, filling and single tooth extractions. Veterans suffering from illness and financial hardship often have issues that cannot be cared for through these programs. These are the circumstances that Smiles for Veterans targets.

Mission:

“To give our Veterans in need the smiles they have earned by providing critical dental care.”
