TORONTO – November 2nd, 2020 – As Canada’s leading SR&ED tax credit consultant, Bond Consulting wants you to know that for the first time since the inception of the SR&ED tax credit program 35 years ago, its deadlines have been extended. Details are provided in Time Limits and other Periods Act (COVID-19).
What does that mean for you?
If you had a September 30, 2018 fiscal year-end but did not file your SR&ED tax credit claim by March 31, 2020, your new deadline was September 30, 2020.
If you had an October 31, 2018 fiscal year-end but did not file your SR&ED tax credit claim by April 30, 2020, your new deadline was October 31, 2020.
If you had a November 30, 2018 fiscal year-end but did not file your SR&ED tax credit claim by May 31, 2020, your new deadline is November 30, 2020.
If you had a December 31, 2018 fiscal year-end but did not file your SR&ED tax claim by June 30, 2020, your new deadline is December 31, 2020.
As your CRA SR&ED experts, Bond Consulting encourages any Canadian business owner or Medical Professional Corporation (MPC) to seek out an SR&ED eligibility assessment if your fiscal year-end is on the list (November or December), and you missed your 18-month deadline earlier this year during the COVID shutdowns.

The Government of Canada, through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), provides cash refunds to encourage Canadian companies of all sizes and in all industry sectors to seek an advancement in knowledge in a field of science, medicine or technology.
There are four main fields of science and technology eligible for SR&ED tax credit benefits in Canada:
- Natural & Formal Sciences
- Engineering & Technology
- Medical & Health Sciences
- Agricultural Sciences
