The Original Pancake House is Set to Make its Polaris Debut

After successfully opening their first The Original Pancake House® location in Upper Arlington in June 2017, restaurateurs Ruben and Patty Guzman are bringing their signature “breakfast execution” to Westerville in late fall.

Central Ohio’s second The Original Pancake House® location is set to open its doors in Westerville on November 21, 2020. The new restaurant, located at 715 Worthington Rd. (the corner of Worthington Rd. and Polaris Pkwy at Westar Neighborhood Retail Center), will offer almost 200 seats, an increase of 35% from the Upper Arlington location.

The Guzmans continue their vision of creating a “casual-elegant” diner atmosphere built around James Beard’s award-winning recipes which originated in 1953, while also striving to create unique experiences for their guests through their “breakfast execution” initiatives. Finally, after a long and tedious process, the restaurant has received its finishing touches and intends to be a one-and-only among Polaris area dining options.

Owning the exclusive franchising rights for The Original Pancake House’s® Central Ohio territory, the Guzmans had been looking for a suitable location to expand their popular and highly regarded concept.

“We are very excited to have found the perfect corner location in the City of Westerville’s gateway at Polaris Parkway. Our guests from Upper Arlington have been requesting for us to be here over the years, and we have responded with a larger space built with a strong desire to become a convenient breakfast of choice in this community. We are looking forward to serving this city with the same level of consistent execution and passion that we are known for at our first location at West Lane Avenue,” Ruben Guzman said.

While the Guzmans are excited to welcome diners into their new restaurant, they are also aware of the difficulties that lay ahead as the community continues to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, they have spared no expense in creating a safe environment for guests and employees. The Guzmans have designed a layout keeping in mind social distancing protocols, implemented barriers at all critical points and have re-designed the restrooms so every guest has their own private and sanitized space.

“During this difficult time, we want to assure all guests that we are taking their health and safety very seriously,” Patty Guzman said. “As a highly regulated industry, we are in full compliance with CDC guidelines, Ohio’s Health Dept. recommended protocols and we are participating in the Ohio Restaurant Association’s Promise designed by John Barker’s team to help restaurant owners stay focused on the importance of keeping everyone safe. By maintaining a healthy environment, we are able to provide employment opportunities for more than 70 families who depend on us to keep our doors open and provide the most unique breakfast experience in Central Ohio which we hope will bring customers back again and again,”

Starting on November 21st, The Original Pancake House in Westerville, will be open for dine-in, carryout and delivery. You can learn more and order online at OPHCentralOhio.com

“On behalf of Patty, our daughter Michelle and I, we would like to thank the many people who worked endless hours during this pandemic to make this dream a reality. Starting with our Executive Chef Brian, our managers Tristan, Tracy, Julia, Rodolfo, Perla and Marco. Also, Tim Bass and his Bass Studio Architect Team who designed this one and only beautiful place and Jim Boggs and his Team at Arccon who built it flawlessly. We invite Westerville and adjacent communities to our opening on November 21st, as we welcome this exciting new member to the Guzman’s family-owned restaurants operating under The Original Pancake House ® concept originated in Portland, Oregon in 1953.”

Release Note:

As of the date this press release was issued, we are awaiting a decision by Governor Mike DeWine, concerning the potential closure of dining rooms as a pandemic control measure. Although we will fight this decision vigorously through the Ohio Restaurant Association, we will open our restaurant including online and phone ordering for pick up and delivery through our partners Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub.
