Recent studies published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have found the majority of people who tested positive for COVID-19 had low levels of vitamin D in their system. COVID-19 infections tend to involve a number of symptoms, all of which involve underlying inflammation. Vitamin D supplementation has been found to help increase T regulatory lymphocytes (Tregs) which serve as a principal defense against uncontrolled inflammation, and against viral infection in general.
In order to qualify for the free shots, individuals must be aged 65 or older at the time of sign up and fill out a basic validation questionnaire. Free vitamin D shots are available for those that qualify and while supplies last.
