Will Travel Passes and COVID Passports Revitalize the Travel Industry asks Matthew Keezer?

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world in so many ways and has impacted many industries and world economies. But the world is adapting slowly but surely, and with the development and deployment of the COVID-19 vaccine, experts predict that the pandemic will end by the first quarter of 2022.

Vaccination will be a must-have prerequisite for international travel, at least for the foreseeable future. Many world governments still have harsh regulations regarding the entry of international travelers. These regulations are often complicated and confusing, and they vary from country to country, which presents quite a problem for travelers.

Matthew Keezer says, “Safe border reopening can only be achieved if the governments ensure that they are mitigating the risk of importing the COVID-19. One of the solutions is proof of testing or vaccination, but most people that don’t travel out of necessity are turned off by the complex and confusing regulations and the need to carry a big pile of paper certificates.”

That is why travel companies all around the world are working on the way to provide an ease of access that will help the travelers to sort out everything with a simple click of a button. International Air Transport Association (IATA) is working on a revolutionary mobile app – the IATA Travel Pass.

The IATA believes that this free-to-use app will be the key to revitalizing the travel industry. According to them, it will be a “global and standardized solution to validate and authenticate all country regulations regarding COVID-19 passenger travel requirements.” At its core, the app will allow travelers to store and manage their certifications for vaccines and COVID-19 tests, but it will also have many other useful functions.

Matthew Keezer believes that this app will allow passengers to easily check the requirements and regulations they need to fulfill to enter the destinations they hope to visit. Afterward, they will be able to see the list of nearby authorized testing and vaccination centers so they can set up needed appointments.

When the testing or vaccination process is finished, these authorized centers will securely share the test and vaccination certificates with travelers through the app. Lastly, the passengers will have all of the necessary information stored in an easily accessible place – their phones. Travel Passport app deals only with certifications regarding COVID-19, but Matthew Keezer thinks that, in the future, it could expand its range to substitute regular passports and WHO issued “Yellow Card.”

“Travel Passport could be a way to revolutionize and modernize the almost-obsolete paper proofs and certificates,” says Matthew Keezer. “It will simplify the travel requirements, and hopefully, it will encourage a lot more people to travel. This is a sure way to attract the customers which will revitalize the industry that has been greatly impacted by COVID-19 pandemic.”
