Primos Coffee Co – Family Grown Since 1929

Freshly Roasted Arabica Coffee – Whole Bean or Properly Ground For Brew Method, Including Coarse Ground For French Press.

Primos Coffee Company produces specialty coffee on their family farm in Nicaragua. The roots of the company began in 1929 when Don Felipe Blandón started producing Arabica coffee in the lush mountains of Jinotega, Nicaragua. Over the years, the Blandón family perfected the process ensuring the finest specialty coffee in Central America. Don Felipe’s grandson, Gustavo Blandón, grew up on the farm and now runs the day-to-day operations.

Early on the Blandóns realized their farm’s future relied on implementing sustainable practices. Nothing goes to waste on the working farm, from the skin of the coffee fruit that is used for compost to recycling the processing water. Primos Coffee was and is committed not only to producing the finest quality coffee but also maintaining the highest social, economic and environmental standards for their fellow Nicaraguans and natural resources.

Primos Coffee is grown in rich soil at an elevation over 4,000 feet in the gorgeous Nicaraguan mountains. The coffee plants are protected from the direct sunlight
by shade trees and from the strong winds by cornflower plants. The colorful coffee cherries are named after their bright red color. They slowly ripen over seven months which enhances the sugars within the fruit and results in pleasant flavors. The fruit is harvested by hand and is wet milled daily with clean spring water. The seeds of the cherries, or beans, are naturally dried by the fresh Nicaraguan air and strong sun.

Gustavo joined with his brother-in-law, Steve Coggins, to directly import the beans from the farm to their own facility in Cove, Texas, where the beans are stored in a temperature-controlled environment to ensure optimum freshness. The beans are roasted to order in small batches using distinct profiles carefully developed for the medium bodied coffee. This low acidic coffee is smooth with sweet characteristics and citrus notes.

Primos Coffee is true to its name. In Spanish, primos means cousins and there are many cousins descending from Don Felipe. And now in Texas, the children of Gustavo and Steve form a new line of cousins in the coffee business.

Primos Coffee is available in medium or dark roast, whole bean or ground and in convenient single serve cups. They also offer unroasted green coffee for home roasters. Order online now at https://primoscoffeeco.com and enjoy!
