Krakatau Bandar Samudera Discloses Indonesian Bulk Terminal Potentials at 4th BMF

The Indonesian government and SOEs have attended the Indonesia-Netherlands Bilateral Maritime Forum (4th BMF), which was held in the Netherlands on June 1-3, 2022.

The cooperation discussions at the 4th BMF include Port Development, Renewable Energy, Shipbuilding, and Maritime Education. In addition, BMF held a meeting between CEOs of companies in the maritime sector from the two countries, in which PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera (KBS) was one of the companies representing Indonesia.

During one of the sessions at the 4th BMF, Akbar Djohan, President Director of PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera, said that KBS disclosed the potential of Krakatau International Port (KBS’s port) as the largest bulk port in Indonesia which is integrated from upstream to downstream with complete facilities, both port and multimodal transportation facilities

“The various potentials of KIP include international port that is integrated with complete logistics service ecosystem, and is also integrated with industrial areas ,as well as being situated at a highly strategic location in the Sunda Strait Golden Zone with Sea Communication Line 1 (ALKI-1) which has become a corridor for the Europe-Asia-Africa Transportation Network,” Akbar said.

He added that KIP has 2 terminals (Cigading Terminal 1, Cigading Terminal 2), with a total of 17 docks, integrated warehousing facilities, a Coal terminal or Cigading International Bulk Terminal (CIBT), and a Bonded Logistics Center.

Digitization has also been carried out by KBS with the KIPoS platform to make it easier for customers to access online bookings, monitor loading/unloading cargo in real time, and obtain security guarantees using the Gate Access system so that only registered cargo can enter and leave the port area.

“KBS is also committed to becoming an environmentally friendly port (EcoPortS), and consistently strives for environmental conservation, energy management, community empowerment, and implementation of environmental management,” Akbar explained in a written statement (06/08/2022).

BMF is a form of implementation of the MoU on Maritime Cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands, and a high level meeting with Maritime Companies and Dutch Financing Companies Led by the President of the Dutch Confederation of Industries and Entrepreneurs VNO-NCW Ms. Ingrid Thijssen, and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
