The Novato Unified School District Board of Trustees has announced Kris Cosca, Ed.D. as the new superintendent for the Novato Unified School District as of July 1, 2019. Kris will succeed Jim Hogeboom, whom he has worked closely with for the past four years in various roles of the executive cabinet of NUSD. Hogeboom was named Superintendent for the San Rafael City Schools at its meeting on June 10, 2019.
Novato Board of Trustees President Debbie Butler said, “Kris possesses the skills and experience that are the right fit for our district and will provide continuity and focus. He will continue to work closely with our staff, parents and community to move our current initiatives forward and to further our commitment to ‘Engage, Inspire and Empower’ every student.”
As a product of local public schools, Kris is a believer in the public school systems which he has served for 27 years. He has a wide range of educational experience including a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of curriculum and instruction, and both director and assistant superintendent of human resources. Kris is a valued and proven leader who is ready for this new role. Kris will bring focus to the NUSD system, celebrate successes, and thoughtfully lead Novato through future challenges.
