The First Product of the Year China were held in Shanghai

Product of the Year China, part of the world’s largest consumer-voted award focused on consumer product innovation, proudly announced the first winners of the 2019 Product of the Year Award in China. The 14 winning products are determined by a proprietary study comprised of a national recognized representation of consumers, conducted by our independent partner Nielsen, a leading consumer research firm in China and globally, each of the 14 winning products have been awarded as the voted innovative products of the year in their respective categories.


Brands with winning products included: Heineken, Dove, Quaker Oats, Lay’s, Zhong Hua, Frosch, OMO, BMGN, POND’S, VS, Pampers, Mizone, MI, Honor (Huawei).

While being in operation globally for more than 30 years, 2019 was the first year Product of The Year has taken place in China, reflecting the importance, highly competitive and growing market for consumer goods brands. Following the Product of the Year World Wide approaches, this award acknowledges brands for their efforts on innovations for consumers, while also serving as a guide for people to identify innovative products in an increasingly noisy market.

The winners of the 2019 Product of the Year Awards China, were announced on May 21 at the first annual ceremony took place at the newly opened IPMall, located at Tomorrow Square, in the center of Shanghai, China.


Given the importance, pace and scale of the Chinese consumer market, Product of the Year China ceremony also brought together a mix of thought leaders. Representatives from Tmall Innovation Center  TMIC, Xiao Hong Shu, Unilever, Nielsen BASES and CBi China Bridge provided speeches regarding recent trends and perspectives for developing, launching and scaling innovation in China’s fast pace market to more than 60 brands.

For the year to come, Voted Product of the Year China 2020 has already begun to accept entries for 2020 online actively welcoming brands that have launched consumer products that clearly demonstrate innovations in their categories, in China, and that have been launched within the previous 18 Months. With 2019 as a benchmark, entries are expected to span a wide breadth of categories, including food, beverages, personal care, home care, connected consumer health, and many more. Only one product can be chosen as a winner in its category through a nationally representative study with consumers conducted by Nielsen.
