MedStreet Announces Official Formation and Launches Introductory Valentine Campaign “Love Your Neighbor”

Alexandria, VA – February 7, 2020 – MedStreet, an entity that provides free healthcare to the homeless on the streets, is excited to announce its status as an official 501(c)(3) entity. To pursue its mission, MedStreet is launching a Homeless Awareness and Fund-Raising Campaign on Valentine’s Day.

MORE OF THIS IS GREATLY NEEDED,” stated a recent recipient of care from MedStreet.

In 2019, over 560,000 people in the United States lived in non-traditional housing, such as shelters, abandoned buildings, in cars, on the streets, or under bridges. These living situations have much higher incidents of infections, respiratory distress, hypothermia, and myocardial infarctions. While the average lifespan in the United States is 84 years, the average homeless male dies at age 56, and the average homeless female dies at age 52.

MedStreet has existed unofficially for years, with Dr. Bill Mazzella touring the streets with medical bag in hand to provide free medical care to the homeless population.  The growing number of people requiring assistance, along with the associated costs, however, has created the need for a one-of-a-kind support team. To provide individuals with the support they desperately need and deserve, MedStreet has now officially been announced as an entity, with Dr. Mazzella leading the way.

To sustain MedStreet’s mission, a “Love Your Neighbor” drive has been planned to build a caring support team, beginning on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2020. The organization’s website, MedStreet.org, provides a way for citizens to support free healthcare to the homeless by becoming monthly donors.

“Thanks, Doc. You have helped me more than once. My breathing, my whole everything,” said a homeless client.

MedStreet received 501(c)(3) status on November 14, 2019, making all charitable donations tax-deductible. MedStreet.org provides further details about becoming part of the crucial support team.
