Bruce Lion and the Lion Raisins Team Work With the USDA to Help End Hunger

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) meets the needs of farmers’ and ranchers’, promotes agricultural trade and production, ensures food safety, protects natural resources, fosters rural communities, and works to end hunger in the United States.

In efforts to end hunger, a large portion of the USDA’s $141 billion budget goes to food programs for those in need. One of those programs has been supplying a bulk amount of raisins distributed via food banks throughout America. For the last several years, Lion Raisins has been one of the largest suppliers due to the fact that they can provide the best quality and pricing of raisins.

Bruce Lion and the Lion Raisins team agree that the pandemic has hit Americans hard and that the USDA has been very gracious with its programs supporting the buying and supplying of California Raisins to Americans in need of healthy quality foods.

“In times like these, it’s really one foot in front of another. While nobody knows what’s in store, the Raisin industry has continued working through the pandemic tasked with supplying all avenues of the food demand.

“While it has been very challenging to navigate we are very grateful for the mutually beneficial support that has been provided by the USDA with their efforts to curb hunger domestically. It has given the team a sense of greater purpose as we know that what we are doing and working on every day is making a difference and helping others.” – Bruce Lion
