WASHINGTON, DC – This year’s summer awards season brings with it another year of awards for The Not Old-Better Show’s pod-casts and radio shows, which have been awarded the 2021 ‘Bronze Medal’ for Best Mobile Resource and Mobile App for their work with Smithsonian Associates in the Government Division, by the National Mature Media Awards. The 30th annual National Mature Media Awards honor the nation’s best marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs produced for older adults.
The awards program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the se-nior market, is the largest program of its kind. The awards were created to annually recognize the best materials produced for those who are 50 and older, the nation’s fastest-growing population group.
Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit certificates were awarded in more than 45 categories. Categories included marketing communications, publications/editorial, educational/ training programs, mature work & retirement and art/design. Communicating with older adult populations was complicated during the pandemic and or-ganizations and leaders made strides to be creative. (Editor’s Note: A list of this year’s judges and creative winners is available at senio-rawards. com/2021winners.)
“During the pandemic Smithsonian Associates pivoted from in-person programming to Smithsonian Associates Streaming, a platform that offers live, high-quality engaging programs about culture, life, science, health, and everything Smithsonian, said Frederica R. Adelman, Smithsonian Associates’ Director.
“Planning and implementing this new mode of virtual programming — the boldest initiative in our 55-year history as the world’s largest museum-based educational program — wasn’t an easy task. Our staff was thrilled to present this new aspect to the Not Old Better Show audience and be able to expand our reach far beyond the National Mall for the first time,” says Adelman.
“We’re always excited to view the entries for the National Mature Media Awards Program, as we get to see some of the best marketing, communications, educational materials and programs for older adults every year. For the past three years the Smithsonian Associates, “The Not Old-Better Show” has been selected as one of the winners. Our judges have repeatedly felt that this program features exem-plary content, delivered in an appealing, well-organized format for older adults,” according to Patricia Henze, Executive Director of the Mature Market Resource Center.
The Smithsonian Associates and Not Old-Better Show teams have now won three years in a row: Smithsonian Associates and Not Old Better Show won the ”Best of Show” Gold Medal in 2019, and won in different categories in 2020 and now 2021. “Thank you for your participation and wonderful programs produced for older adults. Our distinguished panel of judges of mature market experts from across the United States have been impressed with your overall excellence of design, content, and creativity,” said Henze.
