Elizabeth Aungier Explains How Death Is Always Hard To Deal With

Elizabeth Aungier has been in the hospice business for many years and has been able to attend to people who have reached the last few months of their lives. Even though she has been in the business for a good amount of time and has seen death up close and personal, she still was not ready to deal with her father’s demise.

This book is a mixture of shared experinces she faced when her father was diagnosed with an illness she felt would take him away. The emotional scenes she went through and the unannounced grief she felt with each stage are all mentioned in this book.

Not only does it highlight the lows she felt through this process, but she also wants to help other people to cope with the stages that come along with knowing death is near. It gives a sense of acceptance to a person telling them that death is a part of life and everyone has to leave one day. We can either decide to live our lives with the beautiful memories that the demised have left behind, or we can bury our spirits with them.

“We cannot help but be changed by having walked beside our loved one on this journey through death. But the responsibility rests with us for what we do with it, for how we allow the experience to change us. Losing my father was painful and sad. And, I made it to the other side. Through the process, I discovered some beautiful lessons about living. I changed how I defined the worst thing that could ever happen to me, because it wasn’t. Death is a part of life. It always has been and it always will be. Our loved ones will transition just as we will one day too.”
