India is one of the countries that has started issuing electronic visas to citizens of 150 countries. The India Business eVisa is a multiple-entry visa that grants a combined total stay of 180 days from the date of first entry into the country. Business travelers are advised to apply for their business visa at least 4 days prior to travel.

How Does e-Business Visa Work?

Indian Visa How To Read Dates

There are 3 important dates you need to be aware of with regards to your Indian Visa that you have received electronically by email.

  1. E-Visa Issue Date: This is the date the Indian Immigration Department issued the e-Visa or Indian Online Visa e-Visa
  2. Expiry Date: This is the latest date by which the Indian e-Visa holder must enter India.
  3. Last Day of Stay in India: The last day beyond which you cannot stay in India is not specifically mentioned on your India e-Visa. The last day depends on your visa type and date of entry into India.


The India Visa Service was launched by the Government of India in 2014. It allows citizens of more than 165 countries to travel to India without having to physically stamp their passports. According to the Government of India Immigration Services, all foreign travelers are required to have an India Visa (Indian eVisa) or regular/paper visa prior to entering India. An electronic travel permit, known as an online tourist visa for India, allows citizens of certain nations to travel there. Travelers can now apply for the 30-day, double-entry India Tourist Visa. An ETA e-Tourist Visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

  • An individual may only apply for two e-Visas in a given year.
  • For their stay in India, applicants must have enough money to maintain themselves.
  • Visitors must always have a copy of their approved e-Visa India permission while in the country.
  • When applying for an e-Tourist visa, travelers must have a return or an onward ticket.
  • A minimum of six months must elapse after the applicant’s arrival date in India for their passport to remain valid.
  • The passport must contain at least two blank pages for the immigration and border control officials to stamp the entrance and leave.
  • Holders of diplomatic passports or international travel documents are not eligible to apply for an India e-Tourist visa.
  • Regardless of their age, all candidates must have a personal passport.
  • Children cannot be listed on a parent’s online application for an India visa.


Emergency e-Visa is available for genuine cases of sudden and unforeseen emergencies such as: Even if you are not living in India and need to come for an emergency or urgent reason such as Death of a loved one, legal proceedings or serious illness of a loved one, you can do so to obtain Urgent Tourist Visa to enter India. Non-Indians who wish to enter the country urgently can apply for an eVisa India for Urgency, commonly known as Indian Urgent Emergency Visa. Indian Urgent Visa (eVisa India for Urgent) is issued to foreigners who need to come to India due to crisis. The visa is also known as the Indian Emergency Visa.

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in India.
  • A complete scanned copy of your passport
  • Your passport should have at least two blank pages and a copy of the first page
  • You must provide a recent color passport photo
