On July 23, the seventh Nie Er Music Week Kunming sub-venue series of activities – the third Nie Er Youth Wind Music Art Week successfully ended in Kunming Victory Memorial Hall. During the 5-day activity, a series of activities including Chinese and foreign youth wind music art exchange and performance, wind master lecture, wind public welfare performance, wind music flash mob were carried out throughout, allowing people to feel the beauty of wind music. Carry forward Mr. Nie Er’s patriotic education spirit and inherit the red gene.
Sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department, the 7th Nie Er Music Week adopted the mode of “One body and two wings” and was held simultaneously in Kunming and Yuxi from July 17 to 23. Among them, the Kunming sub-venue series activities are hosted by Kunming Municipal People’s Government, Kunming Municipal Party Committee Publicity Department, Kunming Culture and Tourism Bureau. With the theme of “inheriting the patriotic spirit and playing the strong voice of The Times”, the activity deeply studied and implemented the spirit of the Party’s 20 National Congress, fully implemented the important discussion of the General Secretary on culture and literature work and the spirit of the important speech of the General Secretary’s visit to Yunnan, and told the “Story of Nie Er and the national anthem” with emotion, heart and effort.
Nie Er Youth Wind Art Week was successfully held in Shenzhen for two sessions in 2018 and 2019 under the guidance and support of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. This year, the 3rd Nie Er Youth Wind Music Art Week returned to Nie Er’s hometown – Kunming, Yunnan Province, becoming an important activity of the 7th Nie Er Music Week Kunming branch venue.
2023 The third Nie Er Youth Wind Band Art Week is organazied by People’s Goverment of Kunminng Municipality, Propaganda Department of Kunming Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Kunming Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, China Sports Futurity Investment (Beijing) Co., LTD.

The closing ceremony was announced by Mr. Qing Shan the famous director and chairman of the Nie Er International Culture Promotion Association and deputy director of the Art Week Organizing Committee, He also said that the spirit of Nie Er will always remain in our hearts, and that the organization of the Art Week has given us the strength and warmth to feel that the spirit of Nie Er’s patriotism will be passed on in the sound of wind music. At the same time, we hope that youth will experience the warmth of Mr. Nie Er when they play some of his works, and also take Mr. Nie Er as a model and example.
At the scene, all the results of the Chinese and foreign youth wind music exchange and exhibition activities of the Art Week were witnessed by representatives of the supervisors of the Art Week Organizing Committee, representatives of the jury and representatives of the orchestra leaders, and the staff of Kunming Guoxin Notary Office opened the sealed result envelopes and announced the results of the exchange and exhibition activities, which embodied the openness, fairness and impartiality of the exchange and exhibition activities of the Chinese and foreign youth wind music of the Art Week.
After the fierce competition of each group, all the groups ranked out, the top three elementary school groups are: Experimental Primary School Affiliated to Sichuan Conservatory of Music Excellence Wind Ensemble, Xiamen Songbai Primary School “Sea Rhythm” Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Guiyang Huaxi District No.2 Primary School “Flowers Duo Duo” Wind Orchestra; The top three winners of the middle school group were Zhengzhou Seventy-third Middle School Pipe Band, Xi’an Tieyi Middle School Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble Junior High School Experimental Middle School, Yunnan Normal University; The top three winners of the Open Group were: University of Valaya Alongkorn Rajapht University Thailand；Sichuan Conservatory of Music, School of Music Education, Wind Ensemble、Shenzhen baoan district fuhai youth symphony orchestra youth wind band.
On the scene, the Wind Band of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the Wind Band of University of Valaya Alongkorn Rajapht University, Thailand, performed respectively, and the Secretary General of the World Association of Wind Music, Mr. Matthew, personally took the stage to conduct the performance, which won the applause, and demonstrated the wind music style of the contemporary youths.
With the theme of “Nie Er Music, Chinese Culture, World Expression”, the Art Week gathers excellent wind band teams from home and abroad for exchanges and performances, thus understanding the current situation of the development of international wind band teams, promoting the popularization of wind band art in China, and creating an international cultural exchange platform for young people.
Mr. Zhao Ruilin, Vice Chairman of China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and Chairman of the Jury of the Organizing Committee, said in his speech that Kunming is the place where Mr. Nie Er was born and grew up in his childhood, and that Kunming has given Nie Er a profound nourishment, and his musical path started from here. The Third Nie Er Youth Wind Music Art Week returned to Nie Er’s hometown and was held in Kunming, which further promoted the spirit of Nie Er’s patriotism.
At the same time, we expect the youth to adhere to the art of wind music, and thank the organizing committee for providing a platform for the exchange of Chinese and foreign youth wind music, and vigorously promoting the exchange and development of domestic youth wind music culture, and we look forward to meeting again in the next session.
