For years, Lao Bu and his wife Xu Wen have been collecting export pith paintings that scattered in the UK and even around Europe. Many years ago, they first became aware of pith paintings by chance when they were dating.

Many years later, they happened to know that, Macclesfield, Lao Bu’s hometown located in the north of England, is called the western end of the ancient Silk Road in Europe, while his wife Xu Wen was born in China’s Xi’an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road.

Silk Road let Xu Wen and Lao Bu meet each other, and pith paintings let them find their common interests and hobbies.
