From the heartwarming tales of a young boy and his talking cat to spine-tingling horror fantasies inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, Cerny’s contributions to the world of literature have left an indelible mark.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Pavel Cerny’s artistic journey began during his formative years. While studying at the renowned FAMU, Prague Film Academy, he nurtured his passion for storytelling, delving into areas of directing and screenwriting. However, Cerny’s path took a dramatic turn when he was exiled from his homeland due to his political beliefs. Undeterred, he started a new chapter in the United States.

In the USA, Cerny’s career took a multifaceted trajectory. His extensive journey encompassed roles as an educator at colleges and universities and the transformation of a famed porn theater on the Sunset Strip into a popular venue for diverse theatrical productions. He also directed avant-garde and classic performances and pioneered the first series of Punk Rock concerts west of New York.

His creative capabilities even led him to some of the most distinguished theaters in Germany and Austria, expanding his global influence in the world of the performing arts.

Notably, Cerny transitioned into a prominent Location Manager in Hollywood, further cementing his mark in the entertainment industry. However, in 2000, a new chapter unfolded as he turned to teaching elementary school, including students from kindergarten to fifth grade, many of whom had special educational needs. Twenty-two years of teaching inspired Cerny to share his storytelling with young readers.

Cerny’s retirement, prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic, was not a period of inactivity. Instead, he returned to writing, demonstrating a remarkable resurgence in his creative endeavors. Within just two years, his screenplays garnered over 20 awards at international festivals. Simultaneously, his return to writing extended to novels, both for adults and children, showcasing his boundless creativity and versatile talent.

One of Cerny’s notable literary accomplishments is the “A Heart Laid Bare” trilogy. Inspired by his teenage fascination with the works of Edgar Allan Poe, these novels interweave historical facts from Poe’s life into riveting horror fantasies, inviting readers on spine-tingling journeys.

In tandem, Cerny wrote the “White Bim” trilogy, an enchanting series that centers on the extraordinary relationship between a 6-year-old boy named Alex and his remarkable talking cat, Bim. These heartwarming tales resonate with audiences of all ages, with a particular charm for second and third-graders who are captivated by the story of a talking cat.

The culmination of Cerny’s literary powers can be found in his eagerly awaited upcoming work, “Alex and the Last Cat Ventures.” Within its pages, Cerny explores the world of childhood imagination, delivering a tale that is both heartwarming and humorous. Readers can expect a heart touching farewell scene that resonates with young and inquisitive minds, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the imagination during a formative age.

While Cerny’s children’s stories promote themes of love for pets and family bonds, his tales for adults delve into intricate and chilling horror fantasies. Influenced by Edgar Allan Poe, they provide readers with hair-raising experiences that provoke a range of emotions, from laughter to fear.
