KAYODE’s Solo Art Show, “HOPE” to Peer into the Human Condition with Raw Realism

This upcoming art exhibition by Nigerian-born female visual artist Sarah Kayode will be held at the Little Studio in Chicago’s Fine Arts Building on September 13-14, 2024

Visual artist Sarah Kayode is thrilled to unveil her upcoming exhibition, “HOPE”. This highly anticipated event will be held at the Little Studio within Chicago’s Fine Arts Building on September 13-14, 2024.

With a background in science and a curiosity into what defines humans, Kayode expresses her passion for realism through visual arts spanning original drawings, paintings, and murals. She has particularly refined her scope with a focus on the human condition and elements such as mood and emotion. According to Kayode, perhaps her greatest influences include realism, impressionism, pop art, and fashion, and all of these elements will be woven together for “HOPE”.

“I have dreamt of my first show since I started to learn how to draw,” said Kayode. “It has been six years in the making.”

Now, her dream is coming true. “HOPE” reflects hours upon hours of artistic expression, featuring realistic drawings that weave together everyday items for a new purpose: to stimulate the subliminal dreams and securities of the audience. Balloons, which are commonly connected with feelings of happiness and joy, are used to depict aspects of socialization while trash bags are used to demonstrate introverted qualities. Mannequins are used to reflect the hollow, unfeeling, and disconnected parts of people. “I want to help shatter the armored glass of disconnection, disassociation, isolation, and hopelessness,” said Kayode. “This art begins to crack a light into that darkness.”

“HOPE” is slated to commence on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00am. It will remain open through 7:00pm that evening and will reopen on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 12:00pm through 5:00pm. The event will be held at the Little Studio in the Fine Arts Building at 410 South Michigan Avenue #732 Chicago, IL 60605. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to help support “HOPE”, and tickets are now available on Eventbrite.
