BionIT Labs to Introduce the World’s First Fully-Adaptive Bionic Hand This Autumn

March 12, 2020 – BionIT Labs, an Italian startup that specializes in bionics and human-machine integration, working to apply information technologies to help people around the world today, this week excitedly announced they are going to debut their groundbreaking product, Adam’s Hand, this October 2020.

Based on a revolutionary mechanism that uses only one motor to move all of the fingers, enabling them to automatically adapt to grasped objects’ shape and size, Adam’s Hand is a much easier version of all prior bionic hands on the market.

“What’s amazing about Adam’s Hand is that the user does not need to pre-select any grip pattern before grasping the desired objects,” said Giovanni Zappatore, Founder and Owner of BionIT Labs. “This is something that was so commonplace with all other commercially available bionic devices, which is why we are excited to be introducing this new kind of bionic product to the market.”

Leveraging the latest machine learning techniques, BionIT Labs works to develop hardware and software devices that use advanced self-learning algorithms for civil, industrial, and medical applications. They are on a mission to improve the lives of those reliant on prosthetics in everyday life, professional performance, and quality of living.

“It’s no secret that people living with disabilities are forced to adapt to a world that is not conducive to their needs and convenience,” said Zappatore. “We don’t see disabilities as an absolute limit to people’s potential; rather, it’s merely an obstacle that can be overcome with thorough technology, testing, and prototyping. We see it as our responsibility to breathe life into innovative technologies that can help this section of the population.”

BionIT Labs will attend the OTWorld 2020 prosthetics fair in October to debut Adam’s Hand, hoping to networking with certified prosthetists and orthotists in person. Adam’s Hand contains synergy between the advanced mechanics and self-learning algorithm that will enable the user to use the product quickly, effectively, and easily.

BionIT Labs is a heterogeneous group of 18 technical and business-dedicated professionals, who are all shareholders in the company. Founded in 2018, BionIT Labs has raised nearly one million euro in funding, working to fundraise another one million euro by the end of this year.

The company has a strong know-how in the fields of integrated systems development, 3D modeling, structure and fluid dynamic FEA, prototyping, mobile app development, software development, 3D scanning, 3D printing and CNC machining. Additionally, BionIT Labs technology is patented in Italy and currently has a patent pending in Europe, China, India, and the United States. Continuously filing new patent applications, the team is passionate about changing the future of bionics forever.

“We collaborate with several Italian universities in research projects involving the best talents available in Italy and we are also part of the advanced accelerator program of Italian startups in Israel, happening now at Eilat Tech Center in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Israel and the Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo’s Innovation Center,” said Zappatore. “Every day, we work to forge new partnerships and enhance existing ones by connecting ideas, products, technologies and innovation across the world”.

Currently, BionIT Labs is in the process of moving to a newer, bigger headquarters that will provide the team with the bandwidth to carry out their R&D activities with ease, strengthening their brand as one of the most innovative companies in Italy.
