Clare | Matrix Honors Author, Clinician, And Recovery Advocate Wendy Adamson

On Sunday, November 15, CLARE|MATRIX will honor Wendy Adamson as part of their 50th-anniversary tribute celebration. Wendy currently serves as the Clinical Marketing Manager with Polaris Teen Center, a residential teen treatment center in Los Angeles. In this position, Wendy taps into her decades of experience to help teens and adolescents suffering with mental health disorders.

With Polaris Teen Center, Wendy directs and oversees marketing strategies and executive outreach to help Polaris provide individualized solutions for teens and adolescents suffering from a range of mental health conditions. As a gifted communicator, she also thrives in building relationships with local communities.

This commitment to the community is also reflected in her philanthropic work. Wendy serves as the Business Development leader for her son’s nonprofit, Hav-A-Sole, which focuses on providing footwear to at-risk individuals.

In only six years, Hav-A-Sole has partnered with major corporations, and even NBA teams, to deliver over 250,000 pairs of high-quality shoes to the homeless, at-risk youth, and other marginalized individuals. Wendy and her son have teamed up with CLARE|MATRIX to provide quality shoes to people in their programs who may be experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Although currently working with Polaris Teen Center, Wendy has an intimate relationship with CLARE. Nearly 30 years ago, Wendy entered the CLARE Foundation’s Women and Children Program with her son, Rikki. She believes that her time at CLARE helped her forge a new path in life.

Wendy says that, “CLARE was where I was treated with kindness, respect, and understanding for the first time.” CLARE helped Wendy build a foundation for long-term recovery and inspired much of the work she does for Polaris Teen Center, where she has the opportunity to forge a fresh start for struggling teens and adolescents.

Wendy is also a published columnist and author. Her articles can be found in HuffPost, Singular Magazine, and Fix.com. Her recent memoir, Mother Load, recounts her struggles with addiction and the long road to recovery, healing, and repairing the relationship with her family.

CLARE|MATRIX is honored to recognize Wendy’s legacy in the behavioral health and recovery field. Held virtually for the first time ever, this star-studded gala launches at 5:00 PM PST on November 15 and will celebrate the organization’s 50 years of service to the individuals, families, and communities affected by substance abuse and behavioral health disorders.
