Fashion is an industry decorated with iconic hits and misses. Proving his accuracy is not only on the playing field, professional hockey player and entrepreneur JM Piotrowski scores another win with his authentic clothing line ‘JMP.’
Hailing from Dallas, Texas, JM Piotrowski is one for the books. With one hand holding a hockey stick and the other drenched in tie-dye, the ingenious athlete is making most of the lockdown and is determined to come out with his name not only in the sports’ pages but also in fashion.
The young entrepreneur had always been interested in colors, fabrics, and the fun of mixing and matching the two. However, he was unable to explore this interest since he often spent his time training and playing hockey – a passion that had kept him busy even at an early age.
Before playing for the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning affiliate team, the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL, JM Piotrowski played four years of Division 1 hockey in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at Yale University.
An influential and celebrated athlete, JM, was immediately scouted. After graduating from the prestigious Yale University with a degree in Political Science, he became a professional athlete. He began scoring wins with the skill and talent that he has been favorably known for.
Living life game by game was more than enough for JM, but it kept him away from experimenting and indulging his interest in fashion. This all changed, however, when the pandemic put a stop to various sports activities worldwide.
“Back in March when the coronavirus ended my hockey season early, I suddenly had a lot of free time on my hands and this felt like the perfect opportunity to start trying to put the pieces together to realize a dream of mine,” JM shares.
Taking strength from his standing fascination with the art and the overwhelming support of his friends and family, JM Piotrowski began playing with colors. He spent a day using tie-dye on several hoodies and, in his enthusiasm, shared the finished product on Instagram. The result was phenomenal.
Dozens of people responded and filled his Instagram feed with queries on how and where to get their own hoodie. “I had no clue what I was doing at first, but the more I experiment with my creativity the more powerful I feel. I’m always eager to evolve and that is what has kept me motivated.”
Driven by a passion for fashion, JM Piotrowski has built JMP to be an original, high-quality brand highlighted by a minimalist approach with a touch of tie-dye in ‘athleisure’ clothing. Seeing the diversity of his reach, the brilliant entrepreneur launched his line without demanding a shipping fee and continues to encourage his customers to reach out to him on Instagram for custom designs.
JM Piotrowski also does the modeling for JMP’s fantastic collection, showcasing what the clothes look like stretched across an athlete’s body. This is only for now, however. When the situation lightens up, JM plans on bringing in more models to wear JMP.
As 2021 begins to brighten up houses with twinkling lights and carols, the athlete entrepreneur has amazing things in store for his customers. Offering an interactive virtual experience, JMP will feature videos and photos symbolizing the brand and what it stands for.
Building the excitement on what’s to come, JM Piotrowski says, “I will also incorporate a section for all customers to be featured for their own twist of individualistic fashion that supports the movement.”
