Pre-Launch of Bardsy Creative Writing Platform Features a Superpower Grab

Bardsy’s Super Character Kit introduces the site while helping writers develop compelling characters.

Bardsy’s pre-launch story guide, the Super Character Kit, is now available for download for writers and superhero fans alike.

Before launching the integrated storytelling platform, Bardsy.com is offering a preview of what’s to come with their Super Character Kit.

The Super Character Kit is a definitive guide to creating out-of-this-world super characters. Developed by screenwriter, educator, and comic book aficionado, Eric Abrams, this kit compiles printable worksheets, brainstorming templates, and instructional videos that focus on developing a compelling, imaginative, and well-rounded super character.

“With a lot of writers, I’ve noticed that character development can be their kryptonite—especially when it comes to superhuman protagonists and villains,” explains Abrams. “In this course, I’ve addressed those areas that most commonly fall apart: the origin story, how relatable they are, and most importantly, what makes them weak.”

The course starts with a quick overview of the lesson plan and the essential questions that will be covered as writers move forward in their quest to create more-than-super superheroes:

  • What role do characters play in the events in a story?
  • What are essential character traits?
  • What are common character archetypes?
  • What key details drive a character?
  • In what important ways do characters relate to the other elements of a story?

From there, writers will dive into a video lecture on superheroes, learn more about character archetypes and start developing their own character with Bardsy character worksheets. A short demo of the course is available at https://vimeo.com/529798091.

Writers must enter their email address to access the course and begin. To complete the course, gain access to the final video lecture, and get feedback from professional writers on their characters, they must create a Bardsy membership and join the platform’s community of writers. Journalists may simply request access to the course via email and Bardsy admin will provide the credentials.
