Butterfly Baby Doula Services to Host Grief and Loss Training for Birth Workers

Calgary, AB – Butterfly Baby Doula Services is planning to host a grief and loss training session for birth workers in November of 2019. The company understands that birth workers will likely

have to tackle these challenging topics in one way or another throughout their careers. Butterfly Baby Doula Services wants to prepare providers in their industry for these situations.

Randi, the founder of Butterfly Baby Baby Doula, is no stranger to loss. She suffered seven miscarriages in six years. She also experienced the devastating loss of her sister when she was four years old. Randi wants to use her experience dealing with loss to prepare caregivers for traumatic experiences in their line of work.

She began working professionally in the birth field in 2015; however, she has been offering her support since 2009. Her credentials include several certifications and trainings from well-known organizations such as ProDoula, The Matrona, MotherWit, Certified Trauma Professional through International Association of Trauma Professionals and Loss Doulas International. Randi also has dedicated herself to continuing her education whenever possible through training and workshops.

In her program, topics such as miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, fatal diagnosis, and still birth will be discussed. The training will also cover supporting loved ones through loss, what birth workers can do to help, as well as how birth workers can take care of themselves after traumatic experiences. Following the training, Butterfly Baby Doula’s hope is that birth workers can deal with impossible situations with knowledge and compassion.

Butterfly Baby Doula provides a plethora of services in addition to this seminar. The offerings include labour doula, postpartum doula, bereavement and loss support, infant feeding education and support, car seat installation and information sessions, trauma support, and photography. Past clients claim that Randi was incredibly compassionate and that they don’t know what they would have done without her assistance.

This grief and loss training session provides an unprecedented opportunity for birth workers to learn from a professional who has experienced many horrific birth-related traumas firsthand. Education and training are two of the best ways to become more prepared to handle situations that seem unimaginable.

Butterfly Baby Doula’s training program will take place from November 1 st -3 rd in Calgary. The cost of the 3-day, in-person seminar is $350; however, payment plans are available. Participants must send in their payment and registration by October 15 th to partake in the training.
