Singer D. Policy Releases Inspiring Song Visual for His New EP

May 20, 2020 – D. Policy, a Nigerian singer based in Malaysia, released a new visualizer May 15 for a song on his recent EP, “Afro Map.” Obakpolor Esemuede, who goes by D. Policy, has termed his primary genre of music “Afro-Fusion” because every track on his EP is a story filled with the feelings and traditional rhythms of the African highlife musical style, among other genres.

A visualizer is a new trend similar to a music video, where the artist releases a short visual representation to accompany a song. D. Policy’s visual is an animated video for his song “Jor Jor,” which features international DJ and vocalist Darling Sabrina. The lyrics and visualizer promote having a sense of national pride no matter what country D. Policy’s listeners are from.

“Can you do this for me?” he sings. “Be proud of yourself. Be proud of your roots.”

D. Policy’s new EP was produced by the record label Big Talents Domain and released on April 24. “Afro Map” contains eight tracks that communicate D. Policy’s passion for music and diversity and his artistic journey since the release of his first single in 2017. It is available on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube, and the iTunes Store. Other songs on the EP are “Samba,” “Oganubia,” “Samantha,” “Girl Like You,” “Turn Up,” “Your Promise”, “Jor Jor”, and “Where.” “Where” has been played frequently on the radio in Nigeria since its release.

D. Policy dreams of continuing to share his message of hope and love to the world through a blend of musical styles including Afro-beat, Afro-fusion, Afro-pop, Afro-highlife, dancehall, reggae, and Afro-soul.
