High school coaches all across United States constantly cope with extreme adversity. With limited funding for the team, coaches struggle to provide a quality learning experience and safe playing environment for their respective teams. While commonplace methods of fundraising seem to be highly tedious and take a month or more to complete, Hour-A-Thon is providing a simple, fast and effective solution for coaches to remotely raise funds for their teams. Coach Mark Nolan from Trabuco Hills High School in California recently used the Hour-A-Thon platform to collect upwards of $30,000 in donated funds for his team.
While the fundraiser was completed within an hour, Mark claims the funds were fully available to him in less than a week. Hour-A-Thon leverages a unique framework to provide a highly streamlined yet simple and straight-forward method for coaches to get money for their team. Hour-A-Thon has its coordinators in every city that joins the team on-site while each player sends a text message and then makes a follow up phone call from a pre-determined list. The coordinators are trained to provide hands-on support to make sure that the campaign always meets or even surpasses its funding goals.
Each player brings in a list of potential donors to contact. While the fundraiser starts with a text message, players make a follow-up phone call to the contacts where the text message was left unanswered. This kind of interpersonal contact has been documented to garner significantly more donations in comparison to other methods that don’t directly engage potential donors in a conversation. While the initial donations are pledged within the hour-long campaign, it takes less than one week for Hour-A-Thon systems to process the raised amount and make it available to the coach.
“Coaches can use hundreds of different online campaigns,” said Hour-A-Thon representative Michael Braunstein. “Most of them require 20 email addresses, and you’re waiting 3-4 weeks to get donations. Then it takes 2-3 weeks to get the money. Hour-A-Thon is different. Our campaigns last just 1-hour and funds are available in less than 1-week.”
Braunstein further added “The best part is, our reps guide coaches and teams through the entire process. The live leaderboard allows the players to see the money coming in. Plus, in the age of COVID-19 we provide a platform for 100% virtual and contact free fundraising!”
