New Viral Social Media Challenge Taking the World by Storm-UFC Fighter Smile’n Sam Alvey Launches Make Me Smile Challenge

The social media challenge raising awareness & donations to support children in foster care

Jun 1, 2020 – Smiles are contagious–not only giving hope and sharing happiness, but they also provide a deeper sense of connection to other people. The Make Me Smile Challenge was created to give hope by helping people smile more, raise awareness about challenges faced by children in the foster care system, and raise donations to help them live a better life.

The challenge was created by UFC veteran, “Smile’n” Sam Alvey, and America’s Next Top Model Cycle 11 winner, McKey “Sullivan” Alvey. Sam and McKey have been married for 7 years and are loving parents to four biological children–while also trying to adopt a foster child. So they know first-hand the current needs of foster children and have decided to help them through this new national campaign in honor of National Foster Care Month. The challenge lasts throughout the next few months. The couple published a recent YouTube video to promote the challenge.

“We want everyone to smile more, dream more, and give more. If we impact only one life–this would have been worth it.”

The Challenge will raise awareness to challenges faced by children in the foster care system and raise money to support children in the foster care system who need help now more than ever due to the negative consequences caused by the response to the COVID-19 Crisis. There are currently 440,000 foster children nationwide, and that number is drastically rising due to increased drug abuse and domestic violence in families affected by living in quarantine.

The goal of the Make Me Smile Challenge is to continue to raise awareness for foster children and give 100% of donation proceeds for future projects to help meet the needs of foster children. And all it takes is some to sign up at the Smile Challenge landing page, and then record a video that makes people smile–telling jokes, dancing, doing stunts, whatever it is to bring a smile to someone’s face. Then you  upload it to your favorite social media platform and tag 5 other friends using the #makemesmilechallenge hashtag.

Over $3,000 worth of prizes have also been donated by companies who want to encourage people to join the challenge. These donated prizes are reserved for the top 10 finalists of the Make Me Smile Challenge videos that will be voted on by people all around the country. Sam and McKey will choose the ten funniest videos to enter the prize round and the finalists will be notified to let their friends, family, and the country vote on their favorite videos for a period of two weeks.

Every person who signs up and joins the challenge has a chance to win the prizes, but more importantly they are helping to support a very important cause to help children in the foster care system. You can learn more about the donated prizes on the Smile Challenge landing page.
