Smile is extending the flagship Elastic Suite module to the OroCommerce platform

Drawing upon their six years of experience in catalog personalization and the optimization of search-related products, the R&D team at Smile has extended their flagship Elastic Suite module to the OroCommerce platform.  

Based on the powerful ‘Elastic Search’ search engine, this module, which has already proved its worth with more than 1,200 merchants, has been one of the most widely used modules up until now in the Magento ecosystem with 575,000 downloads worldwide.  

B2B eCommerce is growing strongly in all sectors and the profiles of buyers and their expectations have changed considerably in just a few years. Buyers from the millennial generation currently outnumber those from previous generations. They are looking for a purchasing experience that at least rivals that found as a B2C buyer.  

“Searchandising” (a combination of Search and Merchandising) has become the cornerstone when it comes to offering this unique experience. This is amply demonstrated by two figures:  

  • 43% of visitors immediately use the search box (Source: Forrester Research) 
  • +15% to +20% more sales thanks to a personalized user experience (Source: McKinsey)  

Elastic Suite’s success lies in its capacity to be completely customized and tailored to merchants’ needs in terms of experience and internal processes and to be incorporated in just a few days directly within the platform’s back-office to avoid the need for eCommerce teams to use numerous solutions.  

An initial version of the module is already available for the OroCommerce platform and will include the following features in 2020:  

  • Boost Rules: Automatically ranking and categorizing products in relation to one another based on Back Office rules
  • Virtual Categories: Creating a category page with a product list based on a query and placing the category page in the tree structure 
  • Visual Merchandiser: Manually ranking products on a category page via drag-and-drop in the OroCommerce back office
