Marcus Crenshaw believes that the key to happiness and success is authenticity – the freedom to be true to oneself. His sports agency and marketing company recently added an entertainment branch, The FAM Entertainment. As his business diversifies, Marcus will continue to widen the reach of his strategic marketing services and opportunities for genuine expression.
Marcus Crenshaw was born in Michigan, Detroit, a city he describes as one of the toughest cities in the United States. Marcus’s early experiences taught him the value of hard work and focus. These lessons enabled him to persevere through challenges and become a self-made multi-millionaire.
As a former pro player for European basketball, Marcus Crenshaw was particularly astute in the industry’s needs. In 2014, he launched Hoop Cred. The brand was the first marketing agency to focus on and represent WNBA players specifically. With the first of his many successful companies, Marcus directly addressed the need for media coverage of women’s basketball. Among the top WNBA players they represented are Atlanta Dream’s Tiffany Hayes, Chennedy Carter, and Courtney Williams.
In 2016, Marcus Crenshaw created She Hoops Network. The entrepreneur quickly recognized the vast potential of social media to advance marketing. Marcus brought exposure to thousands of talented female basketball players of all age groups and skill levels through Instagram. After two years, Marcus sold She Hoops Network to Overtime, a powerhouse in the media industry.
Not long after, Marcus Crenshaw expanded his business and established The Fam Sports and Marketing Agency. The brand is committed to trailblaze new opportunities for its clients to fulfill their creative needs while empowering them to embrace their individuality.
The Fam Entertainment is a natural outgrowth of the agency’s development. To diversify his company, Marcus Crenshaw draws from his genuine care for clients, exceptional business and marketing skills, and positive influence on people. Marcus also enlisted the help of a long-time friend and Detroit native, Andre Reed, to serve as VP of The Fam label.
Marcus Crenshaw signed YS Lost as the first artist with The Fam Entertainment. YS Lost is a rapper from Brooklyn, NY, well-known for his melodic flows and relatable songs. His music portrays themes of heartbreak and overcoming difficult times while growing up – themes that resonate with the listeners and Marcus himself. The Fam Entertainment is a fitting platform for the artist’s sound, ranging from gritty New York rhymes to pop.
“I plan to keep a personal relationship with all artists and talent,” says Marcus Crenshaw on maintaining a family-like atmosphere at The Fam Entertainment. He hopes to invest in the personal growth of each artist. Through this new sector of his agency, Marcus helps their clients develop financial management skills and gain in-depth knowledge of the music industry.
Like all of Marcus Crenshaw’s previous businesses, The Fam Entertainment operates differently from traditional brands. Marcus has established a name for himself by highlighting underrepresented talents and designing an environment where they can thrive. Currently, Marcus is searching for new talent to welcome to the family.
