New York, USA – January 20, 2021 – Earlier this month, Alfa Chemistry announces in a recent statement that the company is starting to provide derivatization reagents of all kinds for customers across the globe. With all the previously released products added together, now the company offers analytical reagents, analytical standards, chromatography standards, and derivatization reagents. In the near future, Alfa Chemistry will continue to add more reagents to meet the increasing demand arising from analytical testing scenarios.
To augment chromatography analysis and to convert samples that cannot be analyzed into analytical compounds, derivatization is most commonly used. Such a technique requires efficient and effective reagents that can modify the behavior of complex compounds and allow their detection in chromatographic analysis.
“Traditionally, prior to a range of analytical work using GC, MS, GC-MS, and HPLC, analytical derivatization is used to transform compounds into substances with similar chemical structures, so as to increase detectability and facilitate analytical testing afterwards,” commented a spokesperson from Alfa Chemistry. “To help our customers carry out analytical testing in a more scientific and accurate way, we decide to provide them with comprehensively ranged derivatization reagents. Once these substances are used, the compounds to be tested can be chemically modified to produce new compounds which has properties that are suitable for analysis in GC or LC.”
The derivatization reagents that are available at Alfa Chemistry include: alkylation reagents, silylation reagents, acylation reagents, fluorescent derivatization reagents, ultraviolet derivatization reagents, hydroxyl derivatization reagents, chiral derivatization reagents, amino derivatization reagents and the like.
Acylation can render extremely polar materials such as sugars amenable to separation by GC and, consequently, are a useful alternative or complementary to the silylation.
Alkylation reagents can be used alone to form esters, ethers and amides or they can be used in conjunction with acylation or silylation reagents. Common derivatization reagents for the alkylation type of reactions are Dialkylacetals, Diazoalkales, Pentafluorobenzyl bromide (PFBBr), Benzylbromide, Boron trifluoride (BF3) in methanol or butanol and Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBH) among others.
Chiral Derivatization Reagents
Chiral derivatization involves reaction of an enantiomeric molecule with an enantiomerically pure chiral derivatizing agent (CDA) to form two diastereomeric derivatives.
Derivatization Reagents GC
There are dozens of derivatization reagents which are used for GC, including 2,3-Dihydroxy-biphenyl, Trimethylsulfonium hydroxide solution, Trimethylsulfonium hydroxide solution, Hexyl chloroformate and more.
Derivatization Reagents HPLC
More than 60 derivatization reagents are provided at Alfa Chemistry, which are specially used for HPLC, including NIR-797 isothiocyanate, Aminoferrocene, N,N-Dimethylglycine, 3-Pyridyl isothiocyanate and more.
Derivatization Reagents TLC
More than ten derivatization reagents are readily available at Alfa Chemistry, which are specially used for TLC, including Phosphomolybdic acid solution, 2-Aminoethyl diphenylborinate, Potassium iodide and more.
All analytical reagents at Alfa Chemistry are being manufactured and QC tested in compliance with the world-class quality standards issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The performance, reliability, and consistency of these reference chemicals are of top quality.
