Invisible Braces Are Not Just for Youngsters

A dental clinic in Toronto has revealed that adults can still achieve their perfect smile – using invisible braces.

Dental experts at the Art of Dentistry clinic have urged adults who are not happy with their smile to investigate the opportunity to wear these special braces as they are more user friendly, comfortable and less painful than traditional wire and band braces.

A spokesman from the Art of Dentistry said: “Many people of a certain age can only ever remember unsightly looking braces that restrict food they can eat and creates cuts and ulcers in the mouth. Things have progressed a lot from those days and the majority of people can opt for Invisalign – clear braces that are made from a special plastic that help to gently realign the teeth.

“The dentist will create a 3D model of the patient’s teeth using x-rays, digital imaging and impressions. We use this to create a series of custom made aligners that will be changed as the alignment advances, usually every two weeks. Patients have to wear their aligners 22 hours a day. They are only removed to brush their teeth and to eat.

“It doesn’t matter what age you are, as long you have a health mouth and healthy teeth, then this type of brace, known as Invisalign, could be used to help you realign your teeth.

“There are many benefits to using Invisalign to straighten teeth. One of that biggest is that you can carry on eating any types of foods, foods that you would not be able to eat with a traditional set of braces. All you do to eat is remove the aligner. It is as easy as that.

“As you have a set of aligners that you change, you will spend a lot less time in the dentist’s chair as we would not have to tighten or adjust the braces like the traditional type.

“Patients can expect results with Invisalign in a similar timeframe to traditional braces. All you have to do it commit to a routine to make sure the aligners are clean, your teeth are clean and you are wearing them for the required time. If you are considering teeth alignment, then I would suggest popping into our clinic for a consultation with a dentist and they can advise the best way forward for you,” he added.

The Art of Dentistry is a full service dental practice helping its patients with everything from general checkups and fillings to implants, crowns and cosmetic dentistry. The clinic has English, Mandarin, Polish and Russian speakers, so everyone is welcome and looked after for their appointments.
