Meet the Entrepreneur Who Built His Career By Meeting the Needs of an Industry Lacking Transparency

Marketing consultant and entrepreneur Calvin Hamilton knows how frustrating working with marketing agencies can be. A marketing wiz since the age of 14 when he started managing gaming-content creators on YouTube, Hamilton has had multiple encounters where clients or coworkers have told him horror stories of their experiences with other agencies. “There have been multiple occasions where I’ll have prospects, clients, or colleagues tell me that talking to marketing agencies is just flatout exhausting: things move slowly, no one is willing to explain why results can’t be guaranteed for certain projects, launching new campaigns or managing the agency’s operations can eat up hours of your week (even though you’re hiring them!), and it feels like most firms are more focused on how large of a service fee they can squeeze out of you than the actual project at hand.”

Hamilton understood that what these industries needed was a marketing agency that would be straightforward with them and that would make their success a benchmark for its own. “One of the biggest motivating factors that led me to start Engineer Influence was the lack of transparency and straightforwardness in the marketing industry. I immediately saw a gap in the market for an agency that is as transparent as a company like Buffer, has seamless onboarding processes, offers innovative marketing solutions, and allows their clients to spend less time marketing and more time on product and innovation.”

Creating a company with a focus on transparency and delivering the best results for the client has taken Hamilton loads of time and energy, but to him, it’s worth every sacrifice. “Because we’re trying to solve a rather multi-faceted problem, or set of problems for that matter, I’ve had to spend hundreds of hours building an infrastructure that can scale without sacrificing our service.” This type of foundational work can be grueling, especially when the results aren’t as readily visible, but Hamilton says, “I’m just making sure that every client that walks through our door is going to have the best experience that we can afford to give them.” He goes on to explain, “I have spent virtually all of my time building the infrastructure, team, and processes to make Engineer Influence an agency that can solve those issues, specifically as it pertains to personal branding and media buying. Now, the journey hasn’t been perfect, and I’ve certainly made my fair share of mistakes and hiccups along the way, but I’ve never been more confident in our ability to deliver results, and I think my clients would say the same.”

Hamilton can be confident that his hard work has paid off – despite being just under two years old, Engineer Influence has worked with digital celebrities and executives such as Ryan Serhant, Hubert Rhomberg, and David Meltzer, as well as companies like Extell Development, Drink Poppi, and a med-tech venture firm. Under Hamilton’s leadership, Engineer Influence has made waves in the marketing industry and has left customers embracing their unique and revolutionary focus on transparency.
