The first Huigang Ancient Village Cartoon and Art Festival will be held in Huigang village, Tonglu, a county-level city in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province, from April 30 to May 30, according to an announcement made at a press conference for the festival held on April 22.
Huigang is a village with more than 1,300 years of history. The cartoon and art festival will add more cultural diversity to the ancient village.
The festival will introduce the IP of well-known cartoons and display art works created by Chinese new-generation artists. Many famous art brands and designs will also be showcased at the event.
Recognized as a provincial-level village for intangible cultural heritage and customs, Huigang boasts well-preserved architecture dating back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
Visitors can take the Hangzhou-Huangshan High-Speed Railway and get off at Tonglu Station. They can then take a bus for half an hour to get to Huigang village.

Hangzhou will hold the Animation Games Industrial Trade Fair online from April 28 to May 5, while the 16th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival, scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 5, will be postponed until late September, according to an announcement made by the executive committee of the China International Cartoon and Animation Festival on March 25.
According to the announcement, the decision to hold the fair online was made to reduce the impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak on the animation and cartoon industry.
The fair will provide a platform for exchange between international animation games companies.
The announcement also states that the 16th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival will be postponed due to epidemic-related safety concerns.
