New York, USA – April 30, 2021 – Creative Bioarray, one of the world’s leading biotechnology products and services providers, focuses on developing unique technologies to facilitate research in the field of life science, biopharmaceutical and diagnostics etc. Recently, Creative Bioarray announced the launch of human podocyte cell line to study the maturation of podocytes in vivo.
The human podocyte cell line (CIHP-1) is a primary cell line isolated from human kidney. Podocytes are highly complex terminally differentiated cells with complex cell structures. They are a key component of glomerular filtration. Cell cycle control, growth arrest and differentiation are the keys to the biology of podocytes in vivo. Conditionally immortal podocyte cell lines allow an in vitro maturation process, similar to the development and maturation of podocytes in vivo. The result is a uniform and stable cell source, showing the expression of key antigen markers for differentiated in vivo podocytes, including the novel podocyte proteins nephrin, podocin, CD2AP and synaptopod protein. This powerful cell line has been extensively characterized and validated, and has been used in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications worldwide to date.
The immortalized human podocytes provided by Creative Bioarray are podocytes isolated from urine samples of healthy donors and have been transformed with heat-sensitive SV40 large T antigen (U19tsA58) and human telomerase (hTERT). These cells are labeled WT1 by podocytes, synaptopodrin and nestin retain their primary cell characteristics. Urinary podocytes can be cultured for a long time and are a valuable tool for studying the mechanism and mechanism of podocyte damage.
Human iPSC derives functionally mature podocytes, establishes an effective differentiation plan, outlines the development of podocytes in vivo, and provides a methodological basis for exciting research methods. Starting with an unlimited number of cell-source iPSCs, this type of related research is expected to enable researchers to better understand how genetic mutations affect the development and physiology of podocytes. This may involve the introduction of mutations in genes required for kidney development in healthy iPSCs. On the contrary, with the latest innovations in genome editing, genetic mutations can be removed from patients’ iPSCs and the acquisition of their healthy phenotypes can be monitored, which makes it possible to better define the molecular and cellular mechanisms of kidney development.
“The main function of kidney cells is to regulate the balance of electrolytes in the blood and maintain pH steady state. In addition to human podocytes, Creative Bioarray also provides epithelial cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts. The atypical regulation and proliferation of these cells can affect kidney function and lead to the development of diseases.” said Hannah Cole, the marketing director of Creative Bioarray. She also said, “If you have special requirements, our professional team is also capable to offer customized solutions in order to accelerate your research.”
