The first International Forum on Carbon Neutralization (Xi’an) will be held soon

To further implement the president of china major declaration on the carbon peak goal and carbon neutralization vision, the Organizing Committee of the Fifth Silk Road International Exposition decided to hold the “first carbon neutralization (Xi’ an)” on May 12 during “the Fifth Silk Road International Exposition”.

The 1st Carbon Neutrality (Xi’an) will be jointly held by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Asian Development Bank. The goal is to move towards a major international event for representatives from all sectors of society, to discuss climate change mitigation, to target for peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality in 2060, and to achieve green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. It is an important sub-forum of the 5th International Exposition of the Silk Road, which is one of the most important international events of Western China organized by the country. The theme of this forum is “two chains of integration and development towards carbon neutralization”, namely carbon neutralization innovation chain and carbon neutralization industry chain.

The International Forum on Carbon Neutralization (Xi’an), which will be jointly supported by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Asian Development Bank, is an important forum event for the Fifth Silk Road International Exposition and China East-West Cooperation and Investment Trade Fair.

The Forum invited the relevant leaders, academicians, experts and scholars of relevant ministries, universities, enterprises, financial institutions and foreign embassies in China, to explore strategies and approaches for China’s active response to climate change and carbon neutralization in the current situation, to discuss countermeasures for green and low-carbon development, to promote the construction of open and shared scientific and technological innovation technologies and industrial clusters for carbon neutralization, to build a platform for carbon-neutral technology exchange for the countries and regions along the Silk Road, and to contribute wisdom to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

At present, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment and Northwest University, as the forum organizers, are actively preparing for the conference and inviting people from all walks of life to participate in the event.
