Walston Releases Fired-up Jazz Single “Pipe Smoke” Father’s Day

Jazz pianist Quentin Walston’s new single “Pipe Smoke” comes out Sunday, June 20th. The song, inspired by his own father, celebrates dads everywhere this Father’s Day weekend. The band will perform “Pipe Smoke” live at the Manassas Jazz Festival June 19th at 4:15 anticipating the release.

Quentin Walston, featured artist on Philadelphia’s WHYY House Concert Series, is inspired to share ideas through composition. “The idea of this song was to capture memories of warm summer nights spent outside with my dad. Music can capture imagery in such a way that is shared collectively while experienced personally. You don’t need to have been out on the deck while my dad smokes a pipe to feel the joy of spending time with a loved one” says Walston. The first release with his new trio, Walston plays alongside drummer Daniel Kelly II and bassist Ben Rikhoff.

The Quentin Walston Trio will perform “Pipe Smoke”, as well as other originals, live at the Manassas Jazz Festival from 4:15-6pm on Saturday, June 19th. The single will be exclusively available that day to attendees. With Sunday as the official release date, the “Pipe Smoke” will be available on all streaming platforms.
