Medical student launches revolutionary meditation app for the Black community

The Amani app is helping the Black community to overcome hardships and attain a fulfilling life through a unique meditation experience.

Los Angeles, CA – March 01, 2022 – Adult Blacks are 20% more likely to report serious psychological distress than adult whites. Life is not an easy ride and it’s even tougher for the Black community –  the prevalence of high blood pressure in African-Americans in the United States is among the highest in the world. Amid that crisis, a medical student, JR Gibson, offers to make things a little better. The dynamic medical student has recently launched a breakthrough meditation app especially for the Black community which is scientifically designed to keep stress at bay and achieve mental calmness and overall well-being.

Titled “Amani App”, the app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The word “Amani” translates to “peace” in Swahili.

What makes the Amani app different from regular meditation apps in the market is its unique design. To start with, it’s the FIRST ever meditation app which is especially developed for the Black community. History has it, the Black community has been at the receiving end of racial abuse and violence for a long time now which have made life harder for the community than others. Amani is the FIRST meditation app that has been designed keeping in mind the typical plights that are especially experienced by the people of color.

“Meditation can be a significant tool for addressing the problems we have been facing in Black communities around the world since the historical times. The psychological benefits of meditation have been proven by modern science. According to leading science publications like Psychology Today, neuroscientists have discovered that meditation is able to shift brain waves from the stress-prone right frontal cortex to the calmer left frontal cortex, making a person calmer and happier than before”, shared Gibson.

Meditation started in ancient Africa with some of the World’s oldest civilizations leaving proof that meditation was used in their daily lives. The Amani App combines the power of meditation with music to benefit the black Community.

“The Amani app infuses this ancient art of meditation with  kinds of music that are close to the heart of the Black community- music that the community can relate to or identify with such as R&B, Hip Hop & Neo-Soul. Together with guided meditation sessions, the music arrangement helps to create a unique and highly effective meditation experience for the people of color.”

According to Gibson, meditation helps in many other ways, added to combating stress –

  • Reduces anxiety issues by lowering stress hormone levels in blood
  • Helps to improve creativity, focus, memory, concentration, and ability to resolve complex problems
  • Helps to lower down blood pressure
  • Helps to attain emotional stability, self-acceptance, and self-actualization

Amani users will receive –

  • guided meditation sessions
  • daily affirmations
  • special mindfulness exercises.
  • Daily yoga, pilates, breathing exercises and stretching videos which will soon be added in the app.

“Our app is designed to empower the Black community to overcome hardships with one meditation session at a time. It will help to reach the ‘right’ zone mentally, physically and emotionally so that you can carve out  a healthier and more fulfilled life.”
