21-year-old entrepreneur and Multidisciplinary Designer Amelia Scott has burst into the fashion industry with her brand AMELIA designs, which started during the pandemic from her bedroom in Brisbane.
After learning to sew and knit from her grandmother pandemic passion project, Amelia launched her label AMELIA designs, which offers one-of-a-kind, sustainable, handcrafted knit garments.
AMELIA designs pieces, all made my Ms. Scott herself, have been featured in major titles, including Marie Claire and Vogue, and are now stocked in boutiques in New York City, Connecticut, and South Carolina.
Ms. Scott says that despite the turbulent nature of the fashion industry and the ups and downs of starting a business during the pandemic, her business has gone from success to success in less than a year of operation.
“There are constantly shifting trends and intense international competition in the industry – AMELIA designs pieces are built to be long-lasting, unique, and immaculately constructed, and no one is doing anything like this in Australia,” she says.
“I started creating the pieces for a personal project, the demand grew from there and here we are 12 months later – people are moving away from fast fashion and want enduring, quality pieces made by independent makers and creators.”
Ms. Scott has been able to effectively market the AMELIA Designs on social media platforms and has amassed millions of TikTok views, a sizable following on Instagram and YouTube, with a channel aimed at young girls wanting to pursue their own goals.
Given the success of the AMELIA Designs, other notable labels have reached out to collaborate with Ms. Scott, including New York-based womenswear brand ‘LoveShackFancy.’ The brand’s founder, Rebecca Hessel Cohen, reached out to stock AMELIA Designs pieces after realizing its popularity on social media profiles.
The Brisbane girl has also connected and collaborated with top Australian and American influencers such as Saskia Jenkins, Lauren Wolfe, Jadè Tunchy, Ella Mcfadin, and Kate Bartlett.
Furthermore, Ms. Scott has a record of successful productions as Multidisciplinary Designer which includes designing shopfronts, graphics, websites and running social media accounts for award-winning Brisbane businesses, Farmhouse Kedron, Oh Boy, Bok Choy! and Miss Sophia’s Gelateria.
Moreover, Ms. Scott is also known for her development of Her Next Move, a renowned editorial that showcased fashion, creative ventures, extraordinary food, and captivating travel.
