The CDC estimates nearly 70 million Americans have a chronic sleep problem.

Many of these people are hard working nurses, sales people, various business men and women. They are busy with their work and their families. People in this group typically get poor sleep. Why is that? Because, long work hours and those “constantly on the go”, tend to have very low REM sleep. So, busy or not, if one doesn’t get enough deep REM sleep, they could be aging faster than they think. Poor sleep can speed up the onset of aging ailments but could also increase the severity of age related problems, like diabetes, hypertension, obesity and memory loss. Recent studies show POOR SLEEP causes fatigue, poor concentration, foggy memory and unattractive facial skin which LITERALLY makes us physically look older.

What can you do now to break the pattern?

“Soon after waking up, GET INTO THE MORNING SUN, even if it means that you just sit in sunny window for a few minutes. The sunlight tells your body’s natural biological clock that it’s time to wake up and that same internal clock will then be set to tell your body it’s time to go to sleep in about 14 to 16 hours.

You’re also not going to believe this, but eat more cherries! Cherries contain a natural melatonin that is shown to deepen sleep.
