GLOTONE Offers All-In-One Online Violin Masterclasses Platform

Featuring World-Renowned Artists, The Platform Is Designed To Cater To Violinists Of All Ages And Levels

For New York-based concert violinist and educator Vicky HyunJin Lee, everyone should have access to top-quality music education.

That’s why she founded GLOTONE New York, an online learning platform for violinists who wish to pursue their musical training at a fraction of what it would cost to hire an instructor. Signing up for a membership gives violinists and violin enthusiasts access to masterclass videos given by some of the most accomplished and renowned names in the industry including the legendary violinist Philip Setzer of the Emerson String Quartet. Other teachers come from prestigious institutions like the Grammy Awards, the Juilliard School, Yale School of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music.

The platform also features practical accompaniment videos for practicing Suzuki pieces, octaves, scales, and etudes. GLOTONE’s monthly subscription comes with weekly virtual group technique classes, and signing up for one-on-one private lessons with the teachers is possible.

The idea of GLOTONE was born out of the pandemic when teachers had to conduct classes online, and countless classical musicians around the world were forced to quit performing due to financial strains.

“Learning how to play classical music is a unique experience that everyone deserves to have,” Vicky said. “If financial concerns are the problem, then I want to do everything I can to lift that weight.”

She teamed up with start-up veteran and technology consultant Tanuj Apte, and together, they worked to develop GLOTONE as co-founders. Vicky knew that a private violin lesson with a reputable teacher can cost up to $100 per hour, so she priced GLOTONE’s membership at $19.99 monthly or $199.99 annually for access to the platform’s entire catalogue.

Herself a distinguished violinist, Vicky involves herself in the design and editing of all instructional videos, making sure that they are able to give what a violin learner actually needs. With as many as eight different angles and close-up shots in 4K resolution, each GLOTONE video is made to deliver a meaningful and impactful experience.

“I picked up the violin for the first time when I was 50 years old,” said Andria Heckaman, a GLOTONE subscriber. “It is a great platform, and unlike others – I have tried them all: Trala, Udemy, iClassical, and more – it is well suited to learners and priced very, very well for all the wonderful content in the library.”

Aside from Andria, GLOTONE’s subscribed members include professional violinists, educators, middle and high school students, and enthusiasts from the US, South America, South Africa, Germany, Italy, the UK, Taiwan, Ukraine, Iran, and more.
