The Chicago-based company boasts 100 years of combined operating partner experience with a team of professionals who have been in the field for more than 15 years. “We focus on equity investments in companies with dynamic growth potential, primarily technology, and highly scalable service businesses.”

Michael Thompson is an accomplished founder and former NCAA basketball standout who has amassed many accolades in his career spanning over 15 years. His athletic accomplishments as a student-athlete include: Winning the USA Basketball Gold Medal in 2002, he was crowned the McDonald’s High School All-American in 2002, and being awarded a full athletic scholarship to both Duke University and Northwestern University. He went on to become the Atlantic Coast Conference Champion in 2004, playing for Duke University Men’s Basketball team. He was also invited by Michael Jordan and his committee to participate in the Jordan Brand Capital Classic All-Star Game in 2002.

After his career as a student-athlete, Thompson took an interest in entrepreneurship. His move to the business world has also had many professional accomplishments and recognition. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, class of 2006, and a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management in 2020. He was listed in the 2018 list of Black Leaders in Tech, presented by JC Brown, the Top 100 Northwestern Alumni in Technology of 2021, presented by C-suite Spotlight and Power 200: Black and Latinx Venture Capitalist You Should Know, presented by Harlem Capital Partners. Besides his professional and sports careers, Thompson is also on the Board of Camp One Step by Children’s Oncology. This organization empowers children diagnosed with cancer and helps them find new hope for the future.

In his life and sports journeys, Thompson always strives to be a source of motivation and inspiration. By establishing MDT Ventures, Thompson hopes to help many entrepreneurs realize their financial goals.
