How This Woman Created A Fashion Brand That Is Making A Real Impact In The World

Dibo Eyoh is Co-founder and Co-Creative Director of Eloli, an African luxury brand which is increasingly making a name for itself.

The brand was formed by three sisters (Dibo, Sume and Fese) and created with a mission to preserve Africa’s heritage and culture, while also promoting female entrepreneurship. Eloli manufactures their products locally in Cameroon, supporting the growth of the economy and providing jobs with subsidised childcare.

Dibo says the brand is led by women, and has a workforce which is predominately female, providing much-needed employment opportunities for young mothers. Eloli’s beautiful products and commitment to preserving Africa’s heritage makes it a must-have for any fashion lover who wants to support ethical and sustainable fashion.

Dibo is passionate about their latest collection, called “Eteni” or “Balance” in Bafaw, a language spoken in the country. The collection is an ode to the cycle of life, full of ups and downs but still worth living.

The collection was created in response to the global pandemic known as Covid-19. In the wake of that disaster, many small businesses found it difficult to survive.

Eloli’s creative directors however dug deep to find balance which would make the brand resilient. That balance is depicted through the use of both bright and sombre colour palettes and the references to nature throughout the collection.

The collection was first presented in October 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at a runway show organised in collaboration with the African Union and the Embassy of Nigeria in Ethiopia. Eloli represented Cameroon there.

Dibo says the new collection was launched after rebranding their boutique and showroom and the brand is now focusing on global expansion.
