Amy Forsythe, an award-winning military journalist who has served five combat deployments covering military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, was just named Top Multimedia Journalist and Military Veteran of the Year for 2023, by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry. 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. With more than 30 years of experience, Amy possesses a wealth of expertise in various fields of storytelling, communications, and multimedia content creation. She is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success and professionalism throughout her entire career. Amy holds the position of lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve[AF1]  and serves as a Public Affairs Officer. In this role, she provides guidance and leadership for strategic communication initiatives for U.S. Special Operations Command Europe based in Stuttgart, Germany.

Amy’s photographs and videos captured during her military assignments across the globe, including Iraq and Afghanistan, have been prominently showcased in various international and national media platforms over the years. These visual assets continue to be utilized for their historical significance.  

Amy’s areas of expertise include but are not limited to a diverse range of professional competencies, encompassing media engagement strategies, crisis communications, digital media production, executive media leadership, coaching, military operations, navigating male-dominated environments, women in war, veterans’ issues, and international travel. Her enthusiasm for conveying the bravery required to serve in uniform has made her a sought-after journalist and motivational speaker.

Her impressive repertoire of past roles includes serving as a television anchor and host, a U.S. Marine Combat Correspondent, and an adjunct professor at a prestigious international business school.

Before embarking on her career, Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from California State University at San Marcos, a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego, and has also completed various courses from the Defense Information School. 

Amy is highly sought-after as a speaker, consultant, and thought leader due to her extensive experience in multimedia production and international communications. Amy is also a published author. Recently, she achieved the remarkable feat of publishing a book titled “Heroes Live Here: A Tribute to Camp Pendleton Marines Since 9/11” to talk about its inception and the war memorials and tributes located within the base near San Diego, California, which quickly soared to the Amazon bestseller’s list on. The book takes readers on a journey through the vast military training base and provides heartwarming stories and insights behind over a dozen tributes and monuments that pay homage to the brave individuals who have served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  

Throughout her illustrious career, Amy has received awards and was recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership as a renowned multimedia journalist and military veteran. This Year she will be considered for a feature article in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and for the Empowered Woman award from the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). She will receive her Top Multimedia Journalist and Military Veteran of the Year award for 2023 at IAOTP’s Annual Award Gala, held at the iconic Plaza Hotel in NYC, this December. Additionally, Amy was named one of Success Magazine’s top Women of Influence in 2022. 

In addition to her successful career, Amy actively participates on the several boards and offers guidance to non-profit organizations dedicated to serving veterans, providing valuable support to military communities and their families.
